Okay, so I'm about to enter the fray here! There's been quite a lot of conversation about gender/sex/sexual abuse in our culture in recent years. In trying to process it all, here's something I've been thinking... What if God made male and female not as boxes that confine us to a prison but as open doors that set us free to fulfill a purpose? What if God created us male and female not to oppress, demoralize, and abuse each other but to uplift, bless, and fulfill each other? What if being a man or woman was not a social construct arbitrarily created by people for their own benefit, but a destiny prepared by a God who loves us and wants the best for us? What if your sex was not meant to confuse and harm you, but meant to bring you joy, contentment, and a sense of how you can make the world a better place?
In the post-Harvey Weinstein era, can men and women ever trust each other again? Ever get along with each other again? Yes, and I believe we can do more than that - we can bless, edify, encourage, uplift, and enjoy each other as we see ourselves and each other through God's eyes and purpose to treat each other like Jesus would.
